    The Samuel Adams recipe dates back to 1860, an old Koch family recipe. In 1984, Jim Koch, a fifth- generation Koch, decided to brew this lager in his kitchen, without a brewery. Almost a year later, the beer was reintroduced as Samuel Adams Boston Lager and voted “Best Beer in America.”
